Multiplayer & Player Count
Gamble With Your Friends is a 1–6 player online co-op game built around Steam friends. This page covers the normal setup: how many people can play, solo play, invites, lobby privacy, voice chat, and the shared bank. It stops where a join actually fails.
Player count, lobby modes and voice chat come from the official Steam listing and the developer FAQ. Checked October 1, 2026. Recovery steps for a failed join belong to the Multiplayer Troubleshooter.
Short answers first. Everything below explains the setup behind each one.

Yes, Gamble With Your Friends can be played solo. The game is built around friends working one shared bank, so a solo run is supported but leans on your own decisions and risk control.
Gamble With Your Friends supports 1–6 players.

One player hosts and can invite up to five Steam friends. A full lobby is host plus five, or six players total.
That is the mechanically supported range. This page does not claim a best player count, because quota and difficulty scaling by player count is not established by direct evidence.
Team roles and division of labour
Vanilla supports a maximum of 6 players. A larger lobby needs a community mod, and mod requirements differ from vanilla.
Yes. Gamble With Your Friends supports solo play.
Solo is playable, but the design still centres on friends and one shared bank. If you are learning the loop first, start with the beginner guide; if you want a solo plan, use the strategy page.
The normal path. If any step fails, stop here and use the troubleshooter.
Multiplayer is Steam-friend based. There is no public lobby, so a random player cannot find your run.
Official Steam listing and developer FAQ
Friend invite did not work?
Do not read the whole page again. A failed invite is a troubleshooting problem, not a setup problem.
The developer FAQ lists two lobby modes. Both are private; they differ in who can enter.
Steam friends can join through the normal friend and lobby flow.
You want friends to be able to join without sending a separate invite.
Only players you invite can enter the lobby.
You are streaming, or you do not want friends to drop in unannounced.
| What you want | Setting |
|---|---|
| Friends should join normally | Friends Only |
| Only invited players | Invite Only |
| Streamer or no surprise joins | Invite Only |
The FAQ notes that changing the lobby mode only applies after you host a new lobby. Re-host to make a mode change stick.
The FAQ also suggests letting the player with the better network and PC host.
Official developer FAQ
There is currently no public lobby mode.
The developer FAQ lists Friends Only and Invite Only, and says the lobby is not exposed to the public. Multiplayer therefore goes through Steam friends, not a random-player queue.
Official developer FAQ
Gamble With Your Friends is presented as an online co-op game. The official Steam listing does not list local co-op or split-screen support.
That is what the official listing says. It is not a claim about what the engine could support later.
Use the normal online co-op path: add each other on Steam, then join one lobby.
Yes. It includes proximity voice chat.
If you cannot hear a friend at all, that is a connection problem rather than a feature question.

Pick the closest one. It keeps normal setup and join problems on separate pages.
One to six players. One player hosts and can invite up to five Steam friends, so a full lobby is six players total.
Yes. Solo play is supported, even though the game is designed around friends sharing one bank account.
Yes. It is a 1–6 player online co-op game, and multiplayer runs through Steam friends rather than public matchmaking.
Add each other on Steam, host a lobby, then invite your Steam friends. Up to five friends can join the host.
No. The developer FAQ lists only Friends Only and Invite Only, and says the lobby is not exposed to the public.
Friends Only lets your Steam friends join through the normal friend flow. Invite Only keeps the lobby to people you invite. Changing the mode applies after you host a new lobby.
The official Steam listing presents the game as online co-op and does not list local co-op support.
Split screen is not listed on the official Steam listing. The supported multiplayer path is online.
Yes. Proximity voice chat is listed, so how well you hear a player depends on how close they are.
Gamble With Your Friends is a Steam PC game, so a Steam Deck runs the same Steam build and joins the same friends-based lobby. Platform compatibility details are outside this page.
A join that fails after the normal invite flow is a connectivity or session problem. Use the Multiplayer Troubleshooter, which matches the symptom you actually see instead of repeating the invite.
The production gameplay database verifies quota and difficulty rules, but it does not establish a separate player-count multiplier. We do not publish a player-count scaling claim without direct evidence.
